ABOUT CROATIA
Croatia is rising in popularity amongst tourists. It isn’t as famous as the other Mediterranean countries such as Spain or Italy, but it will eventually catch up. Why? Because it has a lot to offer. Wanna find out? You can read it all right here.
WHAT TO DO IN CROATIA
Wander around Plitvička Jezera
Plitvička Jezera, or the Plitvice Lakes, is one of the well known attractions in Croatia. It is the most non European looking place we’ve ever seen. This is because it looks straight out of movie. You know that scene where a young Tarzan needs to grab an elephants’ hair in order to fit in with the group? This setting is exactly where the Plitvice lakes made us think of. A collection of endless waterfalls between the lush green flora and fauna, all contributing to a picture perfect.
Unfortunately, you will likely not be the only one, since it has become well known. Go early and avoid the big crowds.

Alternative:
Plitvice has a little brother, named Krka. No, this is not a typo. It is a nice alternative if you’re not able to make it to Plitvice for whatever reason. Krka is way less overwhelming than Plitvice in our opinion, but quite nice.
Get off the mainland
Croatia has the most islands of the Adriatic sea after Greece. It consists of 718 islands, 389 islets and 78 reefs. You can party on Hvar, sniff the Croatian culture on Korčula or spent your time on Vis. The last one caught our attention, and we decided to visit this one.
We can confirm we made a good choice. Although a ferry goes here every day, it stills has that feeling of being untouched. The locals even have a catch phrase which is more of a Caribbean thing to say. ‘Pomalo’ they say, which means ‘slow down’.
Stiniva
Even though Vis has a lot of beaches, bays and hidden spots, Stiniva deserves a special mention. It has all the ingredients for the perfect hidden bay. We love bays, we love untouched places so this one is the perfect dish. It does take a 30 min steep hike down, so it’s not for everyone, which makes it so good ;)

Visit Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is a must see when in Croatia. We had our doubts at first, scared of the tourist trap is has become since it was used in the popular TV series Game Of Thrones (Kings Landing). Dubrovnik has something for everybody. You can join a guided tour and they show’ll you all of the Game Of Thrones ins ‘n outs. You can grab a terrace and watch the people come and go. You can take a dip in the crystal clear waters surrounding the medieval town. Or you can all of the above. It is up to you.
