ABOUT PARIS

Paris is one of the most famous cities in the entire world. From amazing sights to yummy food to an interesting history, Paris has it all. Therefore, Paris is one of the top bucket list city trips in our opinion. We (Bren and Luna, my little sister) just came back from a long weekend in the city of love and have some interesting stuff for you, if you’re planning on visiting soon!

A taste of the city

For our first morning, we had brunch at Maison Rose: a (very) small charming, pink corner house which also happens to be a famous Insta spot. Even though we’re not so into tourist traps, sometimes you gotta make an exception (Paris is one of those cities that doesn’t have any ‘secret’ spots anymore, unfortunately) . The neighbourhood of Montmartre, where Maison Rose is situated, is very artistic, full of street painters and artistic people in general. Sacré-Cœur will give you a fantastic view over the city.

After a delicious brunch (we recommend making a reservation, as for more of our activities) we checked in at JO&JOE Gentilly, which is an affordable hostel/hotel if you compare it to other hotels in Paris.

Tour d’Eiffel and more

Next day we started off with brunch at La Cantine de Sam (très bon!!) and went for the catacombs tour, deep under the hustling and bustling of Parisian life. This is not for everyone, especially if you’re claustrophobic. We found it a very interesting tour and learned a lot about the 300KM (!) tunnel which spans all across Paris. Please buy a ticket in advance if you want to do this. After this intense morning we decided it was time to visit Paris’ most famous building: The Eiffel Tower

Having seen it before, it still blew our minds away. It popped up between the infrastructure of Paris whilst cycling towards it and that really is a majestic view. We grabbed a baguette and a vino and chilled under the gigantic tower, enjoying its views. We really recommend this since it is the ultimate way to chill in a busy city like Paris.

After strolling around, cycling towards L’Arc De Triomphe via Champs-Élysées and taking a well deserved nap we ended our weekend at Skybar Paris Rooftop. The rooftop offers a view at the Eiffel Tower whilst sipping your cocktail and eating some (small but delicious) plates.

A reservation is (once again) required as well as 50€ minimum spend per person. The view of the city along with the Eiffel Tower giving a show at 23:00 made this quite ridiculous spent amount worth it for us, even though we think the prices in this city are sometimes quite absurd.

Short but oh so worth it

The next morning we had a fantastic breakfast a Season Marais and went back home by train. Even though we stayed in Paris for 2,5 days and did a lot, it’s just a fraction of what’s possible in this gigantic city. We didn’t get to do everything we wanted because of the preparation of the  Olympics which led to a lot being closed. A list of activities and food/drink spots can be found below:
