ABOUT CURAÇAO
Curaçao is a popular vacation destination amongst Dutchies. This can make it hard to find the spots which aren’t touristy or even discovered yet. We have strolled across the entire island to find the best hidden gems you maybe didn’t know of yet. With its azure blue bays and party island vibes, you really want to go here at least once. As they say over there: Lekker chillen op de Antillen!

WHAT TO DO IN CURAÇAO
We have been to Cura for 2 weeks, which is more than enough. We will line up the coolest (hottest?) activities to do down below.
Christoffel Mountain
Go diving
Curaçao is a famous diving spot, that’s one thing that’s for sure. The thing that makes it so great to dive here is that it is super accessible. You won’t be dropped into the middle of the ocean, you can just learn the basics in the shallow water, and go deeper as you feel like you’re ready. We went diving with ‘duiken in Curacao’, which is owned by a nice guy called Jacob. He will make the diving experience very relaxed, and the underwater world is so worth seeing.
Climb Christoffel Mountain
Before we proceed to the more relaxing stuff, an activity which will leave you dripping wet cannot be left out. Christoffel Mountain is the highest point of Curaçao and even though it is only 372 meters, it was a tough climb. Maybe this was so tough because we drank a lot of alcohol the night before and only had one bottle of water. This is something we most certainly do not recommend ;). All jokes aside, the view from the top was absolutely worth it. One more thing though. Go early. The sun will scorch you if you don’t.
Klein Curaçao
Visit Klein Curaçao
Klein Curaçao is Dutch for Small Curaçao. It really is small. Like 20 minutes across the island walk small. But man, it is beautiful. Once you arrive by boat, you can just feel the bounty island vibes. There is no power, so no Wi-Fi, little shade, but so worth it. We went to Klein Curaçao with Mermaid tours. They offer a boat trip to the island with breakfast and lunch included for 130 usd. They only charge a small extra fee for alcoholic drinks. Mermaid tours have build some shacks on the island where you can chill, which makes them the best option in our opinion.
Live the island life
This is maybe the best advice we can give you. It is really simple to say, but for many people so hard to do. You will probably visit this place to escape the pressure and busy life you have back home. This is a place where you can relax so good. So, we recommend you to do this. Slow down and adjust yourself to the island life.
Which (hidden) beaches to go in Curaçao
Curaçao has a lot of hidden bays, but some of the famous beaches are also worth visiting. These beaches are the same places where you can eat & drink very good, since Curaçao is famous for their beach clubs.
Mambo beach
The first beach is also one of the most popular. Mambo beach lies next to Jan Thiel beach. Mambo is more our type of beach in every aspect. It has the beautiful turquoise water with a natural sandy beach, different places to eat and drink, and it is centrally located. The beach is split up in different areas, so if you decide to drop your stuff on the one place, Cabana will serve you an ice cold Brasa. If you decide to grab a beach chair a couple meters further, Madero will serve your drinks and so on. You can order snacks at these bars, but for lunch or dinner we recommend you go to Mood, which is next to Cabana. they have the best sushi. Top 3 guaranteed. For pizza lovers, go to Pizza Mare. When you are going home after a day of flexing on the beach, and you haven’t had dinner yet, you can take away an amazing meal at the BBQ-express food truck. We went here multiple times because we couldn’t choose one dish only :).
Grote Knip
Grote Knip
Isn’t this the ideal bay to go? Yes it is. Curaçao can be quite touristy, this place is a hidden gem. Locals describe this one as the most beautiful beach they have. When we arrived here, we had to blink twice for its beauty and the color of the water. You can just see your toes in the water everywhere you go. I mean look at the picture above. Straight out of a Caribbean dream. We combined this beach with the Christoffel Mountain tour, since it is pretty close to each other.
Porto Mari
Another bay we visited is Porto Mari. Yes, this is the beach with the pigs. Although the beach was really nice, the pig didn’t do anything but lay in the shadow the whole day. I think all the pictures you see on the internet are photoshopped :). This beach also had a nice place to eat right next to it, where they served you drinks such as Caribbean cocktails and tasty food as well. A nice mix between Mambo beach and Grote Knip.
Pop’s place
This isn’t a beach. This is the best restaurant we have dined. By far. It isn’t just the amazing food. There are multiple aspects which made this our best dining experience. Pop’s place is situated next to the water, so a nice view with a sea breeze is guaranteed. And they do live music. Not just live music, but a guy on a saxophone covering famous music. This was so wildly entertaining. This guy got some sex appeal, damn. Go see it for yourself.
